Treats, family, and ice cream—all in one restaurant. Save for the Islamophobia, it sounds like a delightful place.
Following a stabbing attack at a St. Cloud, Minnesota, shopping mall this week, a small family restaurant located two hours away has been under fire for posting “Muslims get out” on its outdoor sign in response.
The image of the sign rapidly spread across the internet, but the viral outrage started with arguments on Yelp. These images were published by Uproxx before Yelp temporarily disabled any further posting.
Yelp currently has the restaurant monitored and has placed it under an “active clean up alert,” which freezes its Yelp reviews.
But the owner of Treats Family Restaurant in Lonsdale, Minnesota, Dan Ruedinger continues to stand with his decision.
“It’s time that people started standing up, not worrying about the PC crowd and do what is right,” Ruedinger told CBS.
Ruedinger also told CBS that his business has since brought in more people and his employees are having to keep up with the demand. The sign, he says, will remain.
The Treats Family Restaurant did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
