Actor and prominent transgender activist Alexis Arquette has died at age 47.

According to a report from Radar Online, actor and transgender activist Alexis Arquette passed away Sunday morning. While the details of her death are not yet known, her brother Richmond confirmed her passing in a statement on Facebook, stating that she was surrounded by her family when the time came.

Arquette reportedly passed away at Cedars-Sinai medical center in Los Angeles. A source reportedly told Radar Online that Arquette was in a coma for four days prior to her death, and only her family was permitted to visit her. Additionally, TMZ was reportedly told that Arquette was “battling an illness” prior to her death.

Arquette, who had roles in Pulp Fiction, The Wedding Singer, and Bride of Chucky throughout the ’90s, became a prominent face in the transgender community back in 2006, when she transitioned. Her experience was the topic of a 2007 documentary, titled Alexis Arquette: She’s My Brother.

Thus far, there’s been no overt public reaction from Arquette’s famous siblings, actors David, Patricia, and Rosanna, but something from Patricia’s Twitter account is suggestive?she tweeted out a link to David Bowie’s “Starman.”

According to Richmond’s statement, “Starman” was the song that was playing as Arquette died, and as per her request, her family cheered as she passed on. Arquette was 47 years old.
