The Teen Choice Awards announced the slate of web category nominees today with a mix of traditional stars and digital talent.
Past winners and nominees like Tyler Oakley, Cameron Dallas, and Bethany Mota are still up for awards, with newcomers like the Dolan Twins and Bunny Meyer earning noms as well. The web section also features several awards targeted at mainstream celebrities using social media, like the choice twit and social media king and queen, which features the likes of Britney Spears and LeBron James, with only Dallas nominated as a non-traditional star.
Major platforms have individual categories as well, with the notable addition of Musical.ly this year and a choice muser award. Conspicuously missing is the livestreaming genre, with no choice streamer from platforms like YouNow or Twitch, represented. In some platform categories, like choice Instagrammer, the field is predominantly traditional celebs instead of homegrown talent.
Lilly Singh leads the web nominees with three categories: choice web star: female, choice web star: comedy, and choice YouTuber. Several others, including Colleen Ballinger and Eva Gutowski, are up for two categories.
The full list of nominees for the web categories is below. The Teen Choice Awards air July 31 on Fox.
