In yesterday’s referendum, the U.K. voted to leave the European Union. In the wake of that decision, the British pound fell to its lowest level since 1985, and Prime Minister David Cameron resigned. Also, Lindsay Lohan and a bunch of other celebrities had some opinions.
Lilo, who has since deleted her tweets about the issue, was on a roll last night, furiously tweeting with the hashtag #remain. She pointed out that “workplace fatalities in the U.K. have reduced by half since European safety directives were introduced in 1996,” (which is sort of true), and asked the Telegraph what Margaret Thatcher would think of Brexit.
She also Instagrammed watching the votes roll in with some Brits and a Chanel bag.
More British celebrities jumped in with opinions as the votes were tallied, mainly with an anti-Brexit sentiment. Lily Allen tweeted her disappointment…and then schooled a troll on world history.
My TL is full of #Brexit gloating, who will be the worst effected.Last crash at least we could blame the bankers, now we can only blame…us

James Corden was generally upset, and author J.K. Rowling hoped maybe magic could solve things, as if the government in Harry Potter wasn’t as xenophobic and susceptible to the threat of “outsiders” as perhaps what this exit means.
I can’t get my head around what’s happening in Britain.I’m so sorry to the youth of Britain. I fear you’ve been let down today x

I don’t think I’ve ever wanted magic more. https://t.co/gVNQ0PYIMT

Tom Hiddleston seemed to be more pro-everyone-just-participating-in-democracy than picking sides. But he maybe he was just preoccupied by a dance-off with rumored snog buddy Taylor Swift.
#EUref polling day. Every vote counts. It’s too important. Future in the balance. Listen to the advice of those you trust. Vote.

And of course, no global political decisions would be complete without input from Cher, who is…pro-Brexit? Anti-? Honestly, we can’t tell, but someday we’ll figure out how Cher’s mind works and the world will be a better place for it.
