No way it’s worth over $85,000.

The Stone Roses (or as millennials call them “who?”) have returned. Known as one of the most important bands of the mid-’90s era of rock, their eponymous debut album was regarded by many critics as one of the greatest British rock records of all time.

The band’s breakup devastated fans, who have been clamoring for more for nearly two decades. So, as you might imagine, when the Stone Roses got back together to play some shows, people were excited.

How best to capture the excitement of the rockers playing a show in their hometown of Manchester, England? Perhaps a live album? Or maybe a tour documentary?

Sure, those are great options. But, if you really want to capture that special Stone Roses feel, what you’re going to need is bottle of air. Luckily, there’s one available on Ebay from the band’s Manchester gig. With 4 days left to in the auction, the top bid stands at a mere £65,900 (around $97,000 American).

OK, sooooo many questions:

  • Who has that kind of money to throw around?
  • Will they open the jar when it arrives?
  • If so, what are they hoping it smells like?
  • How do we know this even came from the show? What if this dude just bottled one of his farts or something?

Turns out there’s an answer to that last one:

This raises a whole new question, though: How did he take that picture? Or, how about this brain puzzler: If you really need a jar of air from that show, why not buy one of the other jars going for £0.99? For God’s sake, there’s one for £10.99 that comes with a signed poster.

Then again, maybe it’s all about when exactly the air was captured. The seller was kind enough to provide that information when questioned by a potential buyer.

Q: Hi can you tell me the precise time you captured the air? Also do you think I could get high off it?

A: Hi, It was captured during John Squires guitar solo during I am the resurrection, as for getting high off it, there may be better options price wise for doing that…. Kind regards

See? Now it all makes sense. Squires really does rip it up on that solo.
