A high school guidance counselor is probably the last person you’d expect to post death threats on Facebook, but everybody has a breaking point.
In MaryKate Nyman Blankenburg’s case, it was about a football game.
Blankenburg, a counselor at Central Bucks West High School in Doylestown, Penn., has been suspended from her job for posting that she would “personally SHOOT every one of” the people staging a “die-in” near the site of Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Die-ins have been spreading across the country in the wake of the choking death of Eric Garner in New York. Around 200 people were present at the Philadelphia die-in that sparked Blankenburg’s threatening post.
Blankenburg hasn’t even apologized for the post. Instead, she told the Intelligencer that “my child might have gotten hold of my iPad” while she was out of the house.
The district attorney is investigating the Facebook post.
