Move over, Batkid. There’s a new superhero on the scene.
Morgan Platt is a 10-year-old who was diagnosed with a brain tumor in June of 2011. But she hasn’t let her condition dim her personal spark and ambition.
Platt absolutely radiates in this lipsynced rendition of Katy Perry’s “Roar.” It was filmed at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, a pediatric hospital that serves more than 15,000 children annually, and features dozens of patients and staff members banding together a rare moment of laughter and joy.
This isn’t the first time that Perry’s single has been turned into an inspiring rallying cry at a children’s center. But it’s a fitting reminder of the power of pop music, to transcend and inspire, to help us sing through even the most trying circumstances.
These kids really are champions.
