The open beta for Battleborn, the next eccentric, frenetic, hybrid shooter from Gearbox Software begins today on the PlayStation 4.
Battleborn borrows ideas from Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas (MOBAs), role-playing games and traditional FPS games, and wraps itself in Gearbox’s usual eccentric storytelling and cartoon-like aesthetic familiar to fans of the Borderlands series. It features several dozen hero characters for you to choose from, each with unique abilities and different ways to level up. It also features cooperative and competitive modes.
There’s a lot to unpack with Battleborn as we discovered last year at E3. Trying the open beta to get a handle on the game yourself if you’re interested in Battleborn is probably a good idea.
You can pre-load the open beta on PC and Xbox One, and access the beta on April 13. The open beta will end, on all three systems, on Apr. 18.
Battleborn will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on May 3.
