Even astronauts need some time to readjust back to everyday life.
Chris Hadfield, the Internet’s favorite astronaut, has kept busy since his return to Earth. He retired from the Canadian Space Agency, took up a teaching position at the University of Waterloo, is still posting photos online, and just came out with a new book, An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth.
Over the past week, he’s released a number of YouTube videos depicting an astronaut acclimating to everyday life once he has returned from space. The short clips are silly in nature, with the astronaut running into problems completing everyday tasks because he’s still wearing his bulky space suit.
Instead of just making an over-the-top video to promote his new book, Hadfield challenged his son Evan—who has helped his father maintain the social media presence he’s become famous for both in space and since coming home—to come up with something creative.
It incorporates many of the clips from Hadfield’s webseries and shows that while it’s not as easy to take off the figurative space suit and return to normalcy, it’s also not as hard as it used to be.
