Mary Tyler Moore has passed away at age 80.

The actor, producer, and activist died Wednesday at Greenwich Hospital in Connecticut in the “company of friends and her loving husband of over 33 years, Dr. S. Robert Levine,” according to a statement from Moore’s rep.

Moore is perhaps best known for her role on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. She played Mary Richards, a TV producer who pushes back against stereotypes and sexism and carves out a place for herself. It was one of the first feminist portrayals of single women and work on TV, and she had a great supporting cast: Betty White, Cloris Leachman, Valerie Harper. It also had a diverse writers’ room. Tina Fey has said the show was a “template” for 30 Rock

Twitter remembrances are coming in, but so are reminders that The Mary Tyler Moore Show is still relevant.

You can stream the series on Hulu right now
