Perhaps you’re already sick of the whole job-quitting viral video craze, but if you can stomach one more interpretive dance about frustration and yearning for freedom—set to Kanye West’s “Gone,” of course—make it this one: work-at-home-mom Brenna Jenning’s ode to her messy house and family. “More years,” but the “same message,” she writes in the description (which also apologizes for a supposed deficit of “moves.”)
The plight of the employee working from home is not well understood, but Jennings boils it down to its essence. It can be just as lonely as working late hours at the office, but without even a janitor to keep the place presentable. From her kid’s “hellhole” of a room to her “petri dish” of a bathroom, Jenning’s workspace offers no respite from domestic disorganization.
On top of that, working from home means you never get to pack up your stuff and go home for the day—in fact, as Jennings’s punchline implies, you might find yourself running errands just so you don’t have to stare at the same walls all day. At least Marina Shifrin had coworkers!
