A tourist was attacked by a crocodile in Western Australia after trying to get close enough for a selfie.
Johnny Bonde, 27, said the freshwater crocodile was resting at the bottom of the bank of Lake Kununurra, and he wanted to get closer for a better picture. But he slipped and fell on top of the crocodile, which clamped down on his left arm.
“It was the result of me being stupid,” Bonde told NT News. “I pretty much body slammed him. If somebody body slammed me at night, I would be angry too.” (I don’t think he actually knows what a body slam is—it involves lifting someone up and throwing them on their back—but I digress.)
Bonde was taken to the hospital, but not before snapping some pics and a video.
Bonde posted an update to Facebook after he was discharged. He said the accident looks worse that it was, and “it’s mostly my ego that’s bruised.”
He also had some helpful advice for tourists. “Don’t swim, pet, play or land on any crocs! You will end up with a sore arm or even worse no arm…”
