A dinosaur might be checking you in at Henn-Na Hotel, but don’t worry about becoming prehistoric dinner like in Jurassic World—this reptile is just a robot.
The Guardian reports that the robotic dinosaur receptionist is just one of the many bionic beings at the recently opened hotel in Japan’s southwestern Sasebo. We heard about Henn-na earlier this year, also known as Weird Hotel, but it’s doors are finally open. The venue is pretty much staffed with only robots as part of an effort to use technology to achieve efficiency.
At the receptionist desk, the dinosaur speaks English and lets visitors know to push a button in order to check in. Next to the clawed being is a lady humanoid, which communicates with Japanese-speaking guests. Along with these two bots at the entrance, there’s also a large robotic arm that helps store people’s belongings, a concierge robot that spews out info on events and breakfast, and various other beings that were built in a workshop.

But the robots are far from the capabilities of the ones from I, Robot. There’s still no machine that can make beds or call cabs.
Hideo Sawada is the man behind the hotel. He hopes to open another robot hotel in Japan and eventually abroad.
A stay at Henn-Na starts at about 9,000 yen ($80). Sounds like a deal to get to do something as cool as being taken care of by a bunch of sentiment appliances. And especially to get to check out that dinobot.
