Every day, millions of Americans get out of bed and hurry to the kitchen to make coffee before they fall over. Humanity’s wake-up elixir is sometimes just too hard to make before the morning grogginess totally disappears. That’s why designer Joshua Renouf put together an alarm clock that does all the hard work for you while you focus on getting functional, champ.
Here’s what it looks like:
Looking like something that a steampunk hot air balloon captain might rely on daily, the Barisieur is an alarm clock and coffee brewer that “eases the the user into the day with the subtle movement of stainless steel ball bearing that boil the water through induction heating, accompanied by the smell of freshly brewed coffee.”
Setting it up each night to run at the appointed time the following morning will purportedly sends signals to “the body and mind that it is time to unwind and relax.”
It’s as easy as that—set the device up the night before, set a time for it to start brewing coffee, then go to bed and wake up to the smell of working America’s drug of choice.
We want one, but we’ll have to be patient as Renouf investigates what it will take to bring the Barisieur to market this year. It’s expected to cost between $300 and $370 USD. If you’re interested in being notified when there are any developments on that front, sign up for more info here.
