The gunman who killed 17 people in a mass shooting on Wednesday took an Uber to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, where he opened fire with an AR-15 assault rifle, CBS reported on Thursday.
Nikolas Cruz, the 19-year-old former student of the school who has confessed to the killings, was reportedly dropped off on campus around the time school was ending for the day.
“My understanding and the information I have from law enforcement is that he arrived on the campus, possibly through an Uber driver that dropped him off. He arrived around the time of dismissal, entered the building, began to fire into the building,” Broward County Public Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie told CBS.
How was Nikolas Cruz able to get on the school campus?

According to Fortune, Uber confirmed Cruz took one of its vehicles, and the ride-hailing company says it’s working with authorities. The name of the Uber driver has not been released.
Cruz carried a black duffel and a black backpack where he stashed loaded magazines, the New York Times reported. It’s unclear if Cruz carried the AR-15 on the Uber, but he wielded the weapon, which he bought legally in Florida, on campus.
Cruz has been charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder and is being held without bail at Broward County Jail.
